Unique People, One Purpose
Grace Crossing Baptist Church was first a church plant out of First Baptist Church Jackson, Mississippi. After many different names and years of financial ups and downs, FBC Jackson eventually saved the church by making it the Madison Campus. After being a campus of FBC Jackson for six years, it was decided that the Madison Campus was healthy enough to be a self-sustained, stand alone Southern Baptist Church. Under the direction of Campus Pastor Kevin Cooper, Executive Pastor Bob Gladney, and a team of strategic volunteers from both campuses, it was decided that the Madison Campus of First Baptist Jackson would be Grace Crossing Baptist Church beginning January 1, 2015.
We love the Madison County community and want to reach those living in our community with the love and hope found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our ministries are geared to help people know and grow in their relationship with Jesus, and to go into the community and the world to share the Good News.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe there is only one true and living God. He is the Creator and ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three persons: The Father, The Son, (Jesus Christ), and The Holy Spirit. This relationship is termed the “Trinity.” Each person of the Trinity has distinct attributes and personalities, but God is without any division of His nature, His essence, or His being.
Genesis 1:1, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19-20; John 3:31-36
God the Father reigns with providential care over His universe. He is all-powerful, all loving, all knowing, and possesses all wisdom. He is the Father to all who enter His family by adoption through personal faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. He is a Father of grace, a Father of joy, but also a Father of wrath and justice. Just as an earthly father shows love by discipline, so God the Father disciplines those that are His. Because of redemption in Christ, we can be in relationship with the Father, just as His Son Jesus Christ is in relationship with Him.
Isaiah 64:8; John 1:1-3, 12-14; Ephesians 4:1-16; Luke 15:11-32; Matthew 11:27; 1 John 2:13; John 17; Romans 8:14-17; Deuteronomy 8:5; Hebrews 12:3-11
Jesus Christ is eternal from the past to eternal in the future. He is the only Son of God the Father. He became man after being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. In this incarnation He perfectly performed the will of His Father, completely identifying Himself with manhood, yet without sin. He took on the sins of the world by a substitutionary death on the cross, making provision for obedience to the divine law requiring the shedding of blood for the redemption of man. In three days He was raised from the dead, appeared to many, and then ascended to heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father. He will return to earth one day in power and glory to judge the world and consummate His redemptive mission. He dwells within believers as their living and ever present Lord and Savior.
Matt 1:18-23; I Corinthians 15:1-8; Romans 5:1-9; Acts 1:9-11; Acts 2:22-24; Colossians 1: 13-23; John 1:12-14; 2 Corinthians 5:21
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He inspired holy men to write the Scriptures. To the believer He is their teacher, their guide, their helper, and their comforter. He convicts the believer of sin. He fills them with spiritual gifts for daily living and service. He seals the believer for their final day of redemption. He enlightens and empowers every believer and church in their worship of God, their spiritual growth as a believer, their prayer life, and the manner in which they serve others and tell others about their wonderful God-Given, God–Empowered faith in Christ. Through this God-Powered faith, evangelism, discipleship, prayer and all manner of services flow from Him through the believer.
